UV Light Damage
When venturing out in a boat, one of the most apparent dangers is the unpredictability of the sea. But that is just one way a boat can sustain damage. There are subtler ways of wearing down a boat and one of them exists in the constant exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

Ultraviolet rays can take their toll on a gelcoat. A gelcoat is a coating applied to a boat to provide it with a glossy finish. However, exposure to sunlight can take away that shine and make the fiberglass on a boat look withered and dull. There are different types of gelcoats used on boats and most are tough to restore after sustaining UV ray damage. That could require a lot of sanding, buffing and waxing. The best way to attend to this issue is to not let it happen at all.
The Solution
Applying DEKit foam to a boat adds an extra layer of protection. The foam covers the gelcoat so that it is not exposed to UV rays. This is applicable to many areas of the boat. Open areas can take on a lot of heat and UV rays on a daily basis. So it is important to compensate for this constant exposure. Boat owners take the time to clean their boats when finished for the day, so why not take the extra step and protect everything?
There is no logical reason not to do so. But not everyone wants to take the time to go through any additional tedious tasks. Maintaining a boat already comes with plenty of upkeep which is why any simple means of maintenance should be considered. Adding DEKit to a boat’s floor will extend the life of the overall boat and reduce the amount of maintenance required on a regular basis.
Boats that are made of all materials take a beating from the sun’s UV rays, and that holds true even on cloudy days. A prolonged exposure could wind up leading to discoloration and even cracking. And boats equipped with vinyl flooring could also use some protection. That is because the UV rays dry out and eventually evaporate the oils in the vinyl. That will lead to a very dry floor that is susceptible to cracking. DEKit can help eliminate this issue as the foam will take the full brunt of any incoming UV rays.
